How soon after the birth can I do light exercise/cardio?

I have been told conflicting things about this.
The first one is no exercise whatsoever for 6 weeks.
The second was you can do walking & light cardio (on a treadmill or cross trainer) as early as a week after the birth but no abdominal exercises for 6 weeks because the muscles need to heal.
I would like to do some light cardio as long as it’s okay
appropriate work out schedule between pilates, cardio, and strength training?

Okay, my question is if this is an appropriate schedule for my fitness routine:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday - strength training in all the main muscle groups.
Tuesday, Thursday - 1 hour of pilates
Monday thur Friday (and possibly on the weekends if I have the time) - Cardio (mainly treadmill)
Is this giving my body enough time to not stress it out? I don’t want to over tax myself or reach a point where I am working out too much to allow my muscle to build…?
monday THRU friday not monday thursday friday***

If I do the cross trainer, which works my legs pretty well, should I stop doing the leg weight machines?

The cross trainer I use works my legs very well. i have it set on a program that changes the levels if incline and resistance. Lowest incline 4 and lowest resistance is 15 (For the program I do) and the highest incline it goes to is 6 and the highest resistance is 20.
Should I not do the leg weight machines? I don’t want to overwork my legs and I use the cross trainer for cardio because I like ti better than the elliptical and treadmill.
I also do the bike when I go with my friend because she can’t do the cross trainer for 40min with me. I use that anywhere from level 6 to 10 I usually alternate it to make it like a hill. The hill program is crap on the bikes at the gym.
ALTERNATIVE CARDIO MACHINE @ THE GYM?

I am getting bored with the treadmill and recently injured my right foot, which is now healing. Are there any other machines I can use for cardio?
There is a particular cardio machine that has you holding two handles, one in the right hand and one in the left hand, attached to two ski like equipments(not sure if I am describing it well) that goes forward as you push each handle(I like it).
Any other machines please. I work out @ Bally Total Fitness.
What is a great piece of fitness equipment for an amateur?

I am looking for in home equipment for cardio. I have never owned a piece of gym equipment. I am on a budget and definately don’t want a treadmill. I have quite a bit of weight to lose and am in my twenties. What would be good for me? An Elliptical, Stair Climber, what else? Also, what is a good brand to look for that is not overly expensive?
Help choosing at home fitness equipment, please?

Hello, I would like to purchase something to use inside this winter to get my cardio done. I have a treadmill, I’m looking at the elliptical trainers as an alternative? Which would be better, one of those or a stationary bicycle? I am looking to get the most work out for the hour I do each morning.
Thanks to all in advance.
