PostHeaderIcon Is yoga and pilates combined with cardio enough to tone me?

cardio pilates

I don’t have the patience to do weightlifting and I don’t want to get muscly.

I am female which means I can’t get super muscly anyway but I already have fair solid bones and that is enough. I just want to tone them.
those are ads are bloody annoying and no one is interested in your products.

PostHeaderIcon What Polar heart rate monitor (HRM) do you recommend?

polar cardio

I want to purchase a heart rate monitor (HRM) so that I can improve the outcome of my workouts. My cardio typically consists of running on a treadmill at the gym. Does anyone have any input as to which Polar HRM I should purchase? Are there any features that I should keep in mind when making my decision? If you’ve purchased a Polar HRM, which one did you get and are you happy with it? Any input on the matter is much appreciated. Thanks!

PostHeaderIcon Why does the cross trainer hurt my knee much more than the treadmill?

cardio cross trainer

I have an old knee injury (broken knee cap about 15 years ago) that left my leg in very poor condition for about 2 years. It then used to dislocate and lock constantly. It has been fine for the last three or four years however (although it still aches sometimes). I do a lot of cardio on treadmill/bike but recently was told that the cross trainer would be better for my knee. I tried it for a few sessions (of only about 10 - 15 minutes per session) but found that my knee was very painful afterwards and my toes started to go numb on the bad leg. Am I doing something wrong or is this a common problem?

PostHeaderIcon Does walking on an incline count as cardio?

cardio cross trainer

I’ve been going to the gym for the past few months now, and I definitely feel a little more fit and stronger. I also feel like I have less body fat on me, or because I have muscle under it, to make me feel more sculpted with it.

Anyway, I’ve been going on the treadmill, and instead of running (because I have the worst endurance ever), I go on the highest incline at about 3.5mph for about 45 minutes. My heart rate stays at about 175 give or take, at that pace. My question is if that doesn’t count for cardio. My gym trainer told me that he goes on an incline because he doesn’t like running. But my friend, who’s in cross country told me that running is the only effective form of cardio along with biking, or whatever.

But I’m saying that if you do something to get your heart rate up, especially in the fat burning zone (as the chart on the treadmill indicates), isn’t that a good form of cardio?

PostHeaderIcon Is it alright to switch from yoga to pilates every other day or should I just stick with one?

cardio pilates

PostHeaderIcon Why do my toes and feet go numb when I do any cardio?

cardio cross trainer

Whenever I do any kind of cardio, expecially the elliptical trainer, my toes and feet go numb and hurt. I have tried several different shoes (wide, tight, running, cross-trainers) and nothing seems to help. Does this happen to anyone else, and/or does anyone know why this is happening? I haven’t gone to my doc, but I will as it is really starting to concern me.
